Usage limits

Teloneum’s administrators can limit how much each person uses the models, over two windows:

  • a session of 5 hours;
  • a week of 7 days.

The limits are the same for everyone, and your usage is counted on its own: what other people use never counts against you. A limit that is not set does not apply, and then you see nothing at all.

A limit measures how much of the models you use, not how many messages you send. A long answer counts more than a short one, a large model more than a small one - and since every message is sent with the whole conversation, a message late in a long conversation counts more than the same message in a new one. Starting a new chat when you change subject keeps your usage down.

A window starts with your first message, and ends 5 hours (or 7 days) later. Your next message after that starts a new one. Windows are not tied to the clock or the calendar: your week starts when you do.

A small ring beside the send button fills up as you use the limit you are closest to. Tap it to see Your usage limits: a bar for the 5-hour limit and one for the weekly limit, each with when it resets - Resets in 2 h 48 min, or Resets Sat 05:00 when it is more than a day away. The ring turns orange from 75%, and red from 90%.

After each answer, the ring shows you how heavy the model that wrote it is: a wave runs through it, green or blue for a light model, orange then red for a heavy one - which also makes it jolt - before the ring goes back to its colour. The weight is the model’s, not the answer’s: a long conversation still counts for more.

In a conversation, the same panel opens on how full its context window is.

Just above the message box, Teloneum also tells you:

  • When you get close to a limit: You’re close to this week’s limit. It resets on Monday at 09:00.
  • Once a limit is reached: You’ve reached this session’s limit. You can write again at 16:30.

Times are shown in your own time zone: a time today, tomorrow at, or the day of the week.

  • An answer under way is never cut. It finishes, even if it takes you past the limit. The limit applies from your next message.
  • You cannot send a new message until the window ends. Your conversations stay available to read, copy and delete meanwhile.
  • If you send a message just as you reach the limit, it is not sent: your text is put back in the box, and Teloneum tells you when you can write again.
  • A message that would take you past the limit is not sent either, even before the limit is reached: Teloneum estimates what it will count before sending it, and tells you: This message would go past your limit: a new conversation or a lighter model may still fit, otherwise you can write again at 16:30. Your message is back in the box. A lighter message - in a new conversation, or to a smaller model - can still go.
  • The chat comes back on its own when the window ends. You do not need to reload the page.

When both the session and the week are used up, Teloneum shows the later of the two, since that is when you can actually write again.

You can have a few answers written at the same time - in several conversations, or with Ask another model - but not as many as you like. Once that many are being written, the next message is not sent: your text is put back in the box, and Teloneum tells you how many answers can be written at once - for example Only 3 answers can be written at once: wait for one of yours to end. Your message is back in the box. As soon as one of them ends, you can send it again.

  • Answers being written in several conversations at once can together take you past a limit: the check happens before each message, not during an answer. How many answers can be written at once keeps this small. An answer that searches the web or runs code can also go a little past what was estimated.
  • Deleting a conversation does not give back what it counted.
  • Stopping an answer counts what was written up to that point.
